The other Group 1 race on the card, the Vinery Stud Stakes (Race 7), has attracted a strong field of three-year-old fillies with Waller’s Foxplay atop the betting in early markets.
It was a ‘heart in the mouth’ job for punters who took the short odds last start with Kerrin McEvoy only really seeing daylight in the final furlong to overwhelm Zenalicious in the final 50m.
In at Unibet headquarters, we’re still recovering from the bloodbath of the Slipper after our main lay She Will Reign got the chocolates but will be looking to recoup some of those losses by taking this filly on.
Waller’s other starter, Kembla Classic winner Dawn Wall, shares the second line of betting with Kiwi galloper La Bella Diosa, who has produced a couple of Jekyll and Hyde performances on Australian soil and rates as a genuine query.
Dawn Wall, meanwhile, really got going in the final 100m to overrun Lubiton last start and it’s worth noting that last year’s Vinery winner Single Gaze also came through that race.
Of the others, we’ve been impressed by the recent efforts of Cassadee down south and despite the rise in opposition are expecting her to figure prominently.
While Harlow Gold should have no trouble running out a strong 2000m, the filly had a three-week let-up after running on soundly behind Hey Doc in the Australian Guineas.
