We take a look at tonight’s blockbuster Premier League game between Tottenham and Chelsea. The Spurs will look to back up their win over Newcastle last week with a strong performance at home. Chelsea suffered an embarrassing lose to Burnley and will come out firing.
When: Monday, August 21, 1am (AEST)
Where: Wembley Stadium, London
Should be a cracker and what a stadium to play a game of football in.
Two very different starts to the campaign but this should be a fiercely contested affair and Chelsea will want to make sure they can keep their players on the park in this one.
Chelsea will be hungry and determined to turn this around but it won’t be easy.
Tottenham hurt them last year with Dele Alli making late bursts into the box and he has shown again with his goal against Newcastle that he’s still willing to get into the box and on the end of things.
Can Chelsea defend well enough is the question here.
KEY BATTLE: Christian Eriksen v N’Golo Kante
I love Kante and think he’s a great player but Christian Eriksen just probes away.
Trying passes that can split a defence, a cross that can pick someone out or even just peeling off shoulders to receive the ball in good space facing forward.
Kante has a big job to stop him and is certainly capable but it’ll be Eriksen that will come out on top.
Spurs win to heap the pressure on Conte and Chelsea.
Spurs have ticked all boxes in pre-season and also started well on the road.
They’ll be too strong for Chelsea with a few extra weapons that Chelsea will struggle to cope with.
Chelsea once again showed they’re not fantastic at dealing with balls coming into the box and Spurs can really exploit that.
Being without Cahill and Fabregas will provide some challenges as well.
Tottenham at $2.05
Draw at $3.50
Chelsea at $3.60
Tip: Tottenham at $2.05
Correct score: Tottenham 2-0
