Despite being accepted for the Epsom, I Am A Star has been clearly the best backed runner with to take out the Stocks Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

The Shane Nicholls trained mare has been just so so in two runs back from a break, but she gets back to WFA, where she meets these very well at the weights, and gets Ben Melham steering. She opened $4 and has been crunched, now into $3.00, and did touch $2.90 at one stage.

Heatherlie winner Hell Or Highwater did open the favourite at $3.50 but has been very easy early, out to $4.20, but did firm to $4 at one stage. That pair do hold a clear margin in betting, with the next best equally being Lizzie L’Amour ($9-$10-$9) and Montoya’s Secret ($7.50-$9-$8.50-$9).

In terms of value, there has been good interest in Jennifer Lynn, who is now down to $11 from $14.
