The Socceroos face the toughest test in world football when they take on the world’s premier football team Brazil in an international friendly at the MCG tonight (Tuesday).

Fresh off a successful World Cup Qualifier against Saudi Arabia, the Socceroos hit the MCG pitch full of confidence with a hungry Tim Cahill ready to take on the world’s best.

The veteran Socceroos striker didn’t play in the Socceroos’ 3-2 victory over the Saudis but is certain to get game time against the South Americans.

Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou has foreshadowed changes to the Socceroos’ starting line-up but this won’t be a friendly for those who are a selected.

With places on the line for Australia’s upcoming Confederations Cup campaign, there’s plenty at stake for players looking to impress Postecoglou and force their way into the side.

One player who won’t be there is inspirational Socceroos captain Mile Jedinak, who has succumbed to a groin injury and won’t participate in either tonight’s friendly or the Confederations Cup.

Brazilian manager Tite has also altered his line-up which took on Argentina last week with the raft of changes including David Luiz playing as a holding midfielder and Diego Souza coming in for injured striker Gabriel Jesus.

The Manchester City star sustained a broken eye socket in a clash with City teammate Nicolas Otamendi.

Exciting Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, Thiago Silva and Paulinho are the only three players retained in Brazil’s line-up which played the Argentines.

Coutinho, who just celebrated his 25th birthday, will wear the captain’s armband for the first time.

The match is the Socceroos’ last hit out before their opening Confederations Cup clash against Germany on Thursday week.

For Robbie Kruse and the Socceroos, it’s a prime opportunity to sharpen their skills against the best team in the world.
