Punters were quick to back the the lone Group l winner in the Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) field this Saturday at Doomben as soon as markets opened.

The Paul Butterworth trained Capital Gain hasn’t raced since resuming in the Winning Rupert when finishing down the track behind Pierata. A trial win since to sharpen him up appears to have worked and the punters agree, backing him into $9 after opening $15. He did touch $7 at one point.

Favourite for the Vo Rogue is indeed Pierata at $3.40, and he has been quite solid, touching $3.30. He holds the call over Whypeeo, his conqueror in the Gold Edition. He is hovering around the $3.90-$4 quote.

At odds there has been a move for Femme Fireball, an impressive last start winner at the Gold Coast ($23-$15-$21).
