Table toppers Perth will be looking to qualify for an incredible sixth BBL decider in just seven seasons as they host Hobart. This match marks the debut of the new Perth Stadium and it’ll be interesting to see if it provides the same level of home advantage given that the Scorchers were unbeaten at the WACA in the regular season. With 7 wickets in just four matches at an impressive strike rate of 12.80, Matt Kelly is the latest in a long list of Scorchers’ quicks to thrive in this format and could form part of an all-pace attack in the absence of Ashton Agar on Australian duty. Batting wise, news out of the west suggests that Shaun Marsh is a chance to return from a quad strain. The Scorchers have an average opening partnership of just 6.80 in their past five fixtures and look more formidable with a top three of Marsh, Michael Klinger and Cameron Bancroft.
Hobart squeaked into the finals despite losing their last three games.
A strength earlier in the campaign, defending totals has suddenly become a real problem with both the Scorchers and Stars able to reel in sizeable chases over the past fortnight.
The Hurricanes lose leading run scorer Darcy Short to the international scene but have included Tim Paine in their squad.
It remains to be seen whether he’ll open as the Canes also have the option of bringing back Alex Doolan.
West Indian Jofra Archer has had an outstanding maiden season in the BBL and should enjoy the extra pace on offer in this surface.
Hobart finished first for runs scored but last for runs conceded which gives you some idea where their strengths lie.
Perth hold a 6-2 lifetime record over the Canes including the last six in a row.
Hobart Hurricanes at $2.40
Perth Scorchers at $1.58
