AT sportsnewsfirst we will bring you a gallery of the best WAGs from the 2010 Brownlow night, and we will also refresh your memory by bringing you some of the best and most memorable shots from past ceremonies.
The AFL Chas Brownlow Medal Ceremony is a highly prestigious black-tie event, in which outstanding individual performances over an AFL season are recognized.
The ceremony is held on the Monday five days before the Grand Final and is always the talk of the town for the rest of the week.
It is held at Palladium at Crown Casino in Melbourne and has a guest list which includes the best of the best from all 16 clubs, and inevitably, their wives and partners.
The WAGs are given their best opportunity to frock up and compete for best – and sometimes most controversially – dressed for the swathe of media and photographers on the “blue carpet”.
The AFL moved to distance the event from other prestigious red carpet events by rebranding their preamble as the “blue carpet” to further elevate the fashion stakes.
Some of the most memorable outfits from past Brownlow nights include the Ruth Tarvydas red dress worn by Rebecca Twigley in 2004, Tania Buckley’s g-string dress in 2001, Kaite Williams (date of Saint Jason Gram) in 2006 and Brynne Gordon’s half-dress half-bedazzled bikini attempt in 2009.
