When: 17:30 | Saturday 17/06/2017

Where: AAMI Park

Both teams are missing a lot of Origin players but I like seeing some of the younger and upcoming players either spending more minutes on the field or getting their chance to showcase their ability from the lower grades.

There’s a big difference from reverse grade to the NRL and this gives them that opportunity without as much pressure.

You go back and you see what Andrew Fifita was capable of when Paul Gallen was playing Origin and now he’s a superstar for NSW.

It’s also great to have that build-up for a few weeks and then watching the best game of the year on a Wednesday night with your family and friends.

Storm playmaker Cameron Munster will fill the key role for Melbourne while the big three are in Origin camp.

He has been in the system for a while and will be a future origin player, so it’s going to be interesting to see how performs with the added pressure.

Lachlan Coote will be the chief for the Cowboys and he might be named at fullback but he’ll be very active as a second receiver for most of the game.

It will be slow scoring game but there are a lot of young players in the backline, so it’ll be really loose around the edges for both teams.

I do see Melbourne playing safely by kicking long, deep and towards the sideline.

The Verdict

Melbourne’s forwards will be too strong for North Queensland as they’re without the direction from Johnathan Thurston and Michael Morgan and I don’t see them getting over the line.
