Melbourne Cup/Caulfield Cup winner retires

Champion jockey Steven King has called time on his career announcing his retirement from race riding this morning after being out of the saddle since late last year.

The Melbourne Cup and Caulfield Cup winning jockey won 54 Group 1’s throughout his long career as well as being awarded the coveted Scobie Breasley Medal in 1997 which was also the year he won the Melbourne jockeys’ premiership.

King will now work behind the scenes with Lloyd Williams at Mt Macedon.
