We take a look at tonight’s AFL Semi Final match between the Giants and the Eagles. The Giants go into the match as favourites although they were pretty poor against the Crows in Week 1 of the finals however the Eagles have a terrible record away from home so it could become a pretty even match. The Giants are the team who could win well and shorten for the premiership although on recent form its hard to see that happening.

This is the game that has me concerned.

I love the Giants but they were poor against the Crows and they know it.

So, they lose Shane Mumford and Jeremy Cameron but get Stevie Johnson and Devon Smith back.

That’s a better line-up for me with small forwards.

I’d like to see Rory Lobb do the ruck work rather than Dawson Simpson as West Coast don’t have a lot of impact there.

If Nic Naitanui plays, scratch everything I just said.

However, if that doesn’t happen, they just have to get Lobb and Jonathon Patton to stand up.

West coast with the plus 15 start is very enticing.

GWS aren’t going that well.

If the stats for Sydney line-up up favourably, for the Giants they look ordinary.

Six goals, eight goals and 12 goals won their last three games.

The 12 was against West Coast and the Eagles trailed by a point going into the final quarter.

They need to kick more to win this time.

The Verdict

The Eagles will kick 14 goals, Josh Kennedy will kick six, so the Giants have to kick 15.

I don’t think they can.

I hope they can but don’t think they can and the AFL should go home happy with teams from four states in the final four.

Eagles by 10 plus, so take the start for the Eagles.
