A rematch of last year’s preliminary final, the GWS are tracking better than the Bulldogs this season and in hindsight their loss to Adelaide in round one was against another grand final contender.
The Dogs on the other hand have not done much wrong yet have not reached the lofty standards of last season. Their win last week against the Lions was a suitable tribute to Robert Murphy but they let Brisbane get away before reeling them back in the final quarter. Coach Luke Beveridge has said midweek that the Bulldogs are playing ‘spasmodically’ and you sense that they will need to be firing on all cylinders before they can defeat the Giants.
Caleb Daniel and Bailey Williams are both included in the Bulldogs squad, whilst veteran defender Matthew Boyd is out with a back complaint and Shane Biggs omitted. For the Giants Phil Davis is out of the side with a sore hamstring.
Final Say: 21 marks and 45 shots on goal from 62 inside 50’s shows that the Bulldogs when accurate are ready to fire. Their disappointing return of 17.20 against the Lions was enough to win easily but they won’t get that opportunity against the Giants. After their domination of the Swans on Saturday night, the Giants will be too good.
Best Bets: GWS 1-39 ($2.05)
