The fact that this fight is actually happening still seems incredibly bizarre, but one of the biggest fights in history will take place on Sunday when Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor do battle.

An unbeaten boxer that is widely considered one of the greatest fighters in history taking on somebody that is having their first professional boxing bout is like something out of a Simpsons episode, but the result may not be as simple as it seems.

Can Conor McGregor back up his talk and knock Floyd Mayweather out or will this be another comfortable win for Mayweather? We have analysed both fighters and our Mayweather vs McGregor tips can be found below.

Mayweather vs McGregor Betting

Floyd Mayweather has never lost a professional fight and it is something of a surprise that he isn’t actually shorter than his current quote of $1.25.

Conor McGregor has been backed from $5.50 into $4.25 and we can reveal that we currently hold five times as much money for a McGregor win as we do for a Mayweather victory.

Mayweater is $1.80 to win the fight by KO, TKO or DQ and $3.60 to score his usual decision win, while McGregor is $5 to win by KO, TKO or DQ and a massive $23 to win by decision.

Mayweather vs McGregor Recent Form

Floyd Mayweather has been flawless during his professional boxing career and a win over McGregor will take his record to a simply incredible 50-0.

Mayweather has not been seen in the ring since he ‘retired’ following his win over Andre Berto in September 2015, but he has previously had big breaks between his fights without any issues whatsoever.

Mayweather has won nine of his past ten fights by decision and he has not won a fight by knockout since his controversial win over Victor Ortiz in 2011.

Conor McGregor has a Mixed Martial Arts record of 21-3, but this will be his first ever professional boxing bout.

McGregor last fought in the octagon when he beat Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 and before that he was able to avenge his defeat at the hands of Nate Diaz at UFC 196.

Analysis

Where do you even start for this fight?

Floyd Mayweather is certainly not the most popular athlete in the world and his fairly conservative style is not for everybody, but it can’t be disputed that he is one of the greatest boxers in history.

Mayweather has taken on all the modern day greats – Zab Judah, Oscar De Lay Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao – and he has beaten them all comfortably.

The American has been able to completely outbox these experienced and world-class boxers, so what possible chance does Conor McGregor have of competing with Mayweather in an environment in which he thrives.

There is no doubt that McGregor is one of the best Mixed Martial Artists in the world and an incredibly dangerous striker, but boxing is a completely different beast and one that McGregor has no experience with.

There is plenty of hype surrounding the knockout power of McGregor and there is speculation that the fact the pair will wear 8oz gloves gives the Irishmen the advantage, but none of that will matter if he is unable to touch Mayweather and there is every possible chance that happens.

Mayweather may not be as a fast as he once was, but he won’t need to be to outbox McGregor.

As much as we would all love to see McGregor knock Mayweather out, it really is incredibly difficult to see happening and there is every chance that Mayweather will simply toy with his rival.

Mayweather vs McGregor Tips

Mayweather has not won a fight by knockout since he beat Victor Ortiz in 2011 in his most recent fights he has not even bothered trying to finish his rivals.

He may be keen to knock McGregor out simply to make a statement, but he does have an issue with his hands and simply scoring points and avoiding getting hit himself will be the Mayweather game plan.

This means that the $2.75 available for Mayweather to win by decision really does standout and that is clearly the best betting play in this bout.

How McGregor will fare after 12 rounds in the ring is anybody’s guess and he may not be disgraced, but he has given himself what is frankly almost an impossible assignment in his professional boxing debut.

TIP: Back Mayweather To Win By Decision @ $2.75
