THIS is a really strong mid-week meeting at Sale, one of Victoria’s best country tracks. Big, wide spaces gives every horse a chance. Now, let’s find you some winners!
$30,000 E-CYCLE SOLUTIONS STEEPLECHASE. 3200-metres.
SELECTIONS: 2 KEMTAIN; 5 Pentomatic; 1 Unabashed; 8 Trouble Bound.
BEST ROUGHIE: 4 TWIN TEA BAGS.
SUGGESTED BET: KEMTAIN each-way.
KEMTAIN had a very good debut jumping hurdling season last year, has trialled well over the bigger fences. In astute hands and will run well with tip rider on. PENTOMATIC former handy hurdler switching to fences now, led when OK run 5th Murray Bridge first steeplechase run. Big improver. UNABASHED shows real promise as a steeplechaser, hard to beat.
$30,000 MAIDEN HURDLE. 3200-metres.
SELECTIONS: 10 DANE HUSSLER; 6 Music To Midnight; 4 He’s A Genius; 1 Bonnard.
BEST ROUGHIE: 11 SHEZ EXTRAORDINARY.
SUGGESTED BET: DANE HUSSLER to win. Quinella with MUSIC MIDNIGHT.
DANE HUSSLER is a good stayer making hurdling debut. Has trialled very well coming in, looks tough to beat under the set-weights scale. MUSIC MIDNIGHT is a tough stayer, won well 2400m Bendigo on the flat, led at hurdling debut when 8th. Will improve with that experience. HE’S A GENIUS ran 2nd two in a row at Casterton before 6th Bendigo last time. Chance now.
$30,000 Benchmark 120 HURDLE. 3200-metres.
SELECTIONS: 4 MURPHY’S DELIGHT; 8 Don’t Be Shy; 3 Tough Vintage; 1 Stormin Norman.
BEST ROUGHIE: 6 STRIKE THE STARS.
SUGGESTED BET: Box Quinella/trifecta: 1 – 3 – 4 – 6 – 8.
MURPHY’S DELIGHT looks ready to win now, Irish import with solid flat record, made hurdling debut with very good 3rd Refectory, Bendigo. Looks the winner here. DON’T BE SHY won a high-weight at Ballarat on the flat before 5th Bendigo hurdle. The danger. TOUGH VINTAGE flat form is poor but looked good winning recent Traralgon hurdle trial. Respect.
$25,000 3YO MAIDEN PLATE. 1200-metres.
SELECTIONS: 5 FENG SHU; 7 Spirit Of Aquada; 4 Dominant Witness; 3 Born To Fight.
BEST ROUGHIE: 12 THINK CATHY.
SUGGESTED BET: FENG SHU to win.
FENG SHU ran 3rd in G2 Sires Produce Flemington before failed heavy 8 G1 Sires Randwick. Spelled, has real class, should be winning here. SPIRIT OF AQUADA ran very well on debut 5th MV before eye-catching closing 3rd Geelong synthetic. Fitter, run well. DOMINANT WITNESS is a Star Witness 3YO settling well back, ran on hard 3rd Ballarat on debut. Chance.
$25,000 3YO MAIDEN PLATE. 1200-metres.
SELECTIONS: 10 ANGELIC SPIRIT; 3 Evolutionist; 8 The Bald Eagle; 7 Siskiyou.
BEST ROUGHIE: 6 RITORNO.
SUGGESTED BET: Box Quinella/trifecta: 3 – 6 – 7 – 8 – 10.
ANGELIC SPIRIT is a former Kiwi with OTI Racing in good hands, impressive trial winner Cranbourne recently. Hard to beat. EVOLUTIONIST was very good 2nd Bendigo on debut before drew wide, off the track, not disgraced Caulfield. Gate 1 here, rates highly. THE BALD EAGLE and SISKIYOU are both well-bred and both in top barns. Watch them closely.
$30,000 BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP. 1000-metres.
SELECTIONS: 3 SUPER FUN; 10 World Of Hope; 9 Magnetar; 7 Charlie Garcon.
BEST ROUGHIE: 8 PARWAN PRINCE.
SUGGESTED BET: SUPER FUN each-way.
SUPER FUN is very fast, resuming from break, go on 3rd Thermal Current Flemington in January. Has the right gate to run well fresh. WORLD OF HOPE is a run-on sprinter drawn well, followed Sandown 2nd with close-up 6th when fav Bendigo. Well worth another chance. MAGNETAR won well when resuming Sale ‘70’ then close 4th Ballarat when led. Go well.
$30,000 BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP. 1400-metres.
SELECTIONS: 11 DANCE FOR ME; 6 Kaching; 5 Elegant Queen; 7 Pharrell.
BEST ROUGHIE: 3 TINY’S LEGACY.
SUGGESTED BET: DANCE WITH ME to win. Quinella with KACHING.
DANCE WITH ME has won 2 of 8, 3 placings, ran 5th to Four Sisters, Sandown, then 4th Ashlee Marie, Sandown again. That form is very strong, go close. KACHING ran 9th to Hey Doc in G3 CS Hayes, Flemington latest close 8th Mr Sneaky, Flemington. Break, run well fresh. ELEGANT QUEEN has won 2 of last 3, latest charged home to win Sale. This harder but still a chance.
$25,000 BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP. 1200-metres.
SELECTIONS: 1 SEGUNA; 7 Curvature; 6 Bon’s Away; 10 Our Foxwedge.
BEST ROUGHIE: 4 JOLIE’S CAFÉ.
SUGGESTED BET: SEGUNA each-way.
SEGUNA is resuming here, won 2 of 7, ran 4th Oak Door, Sandown, then big win Ballarat in a ‘64’ before 7th Farson MV. Spell, resumes now, go close. CURVATURE ran on close 4th Benz MV, very good effort, before closing 5th Bendigo 1100m. Extra ground here ideal, go close. BON’S AWAY ran 3rd at Sale when good effort, before 2nd Sandown last time. Hard to beat on that.
