We take a look at todays NRL Round 18 clash between the Canterbury Bulldogs and the Newcastle Knights. On paper this looks a pretty one sided match with the Bulldogs having too much class across all positions it will be a surprise if they get beat. When: 16:00 | Sunday 09/07/2017
Where: Belmore Sports Ground
This is a back to Belmore game and I think it’s important for the Bulldogs to keep doing this as its tradition.
Strangely, they’re finding it hard to consistently win there and it’s like the Tigers being at Leichhardt where they push that extra 10 percent but it’s just not happening.
Even with the Bulldogs struggling for points, Des isn’t going to change their structure.
They have the same squad and they can’t go and change anything that is going to make a difference at this time of the year.
The Bulldogs can’t wait for Kieran Foran to turn up in November, so they can get started and build a game plan for season 2018.
Aiden Tolman was strong for the Bulldogs in the absence of James Graham last week, but I don’t see him staying at the Belmore club.
I see him moving to another club or to the bench as Aaron Woods and Graham will be in the starting squad in 2018.
Tolman is a great player and I hope he can get enough minutes in the future to showcase his true ability.
Trent Hodkinson will stand up for the Knights this week.
He hasn’t been the buy they were hoping for as he ihas been injured and hasn’t been able to find the form he once had.
Without Dane Gagai, it’s going to be very difficult for the Knights to get enough points.
Even though the Dogs are missing players due to Origin, I see them leaving the stadium with two points.
Canterbury at $1.38
Newcastle at $3.10
Tip: Canterbury at $1.38
Line tip: Canterbury -7.5
