In their last match the Victory took a few minutes to figure out the high defensive press that suffocated the ball through the midfield but once they did produced 25 minutes of the highest quality football we have seen all season. Up 3-0 and seemingly cruising towards an easy win, the Roar came to life after Dimi Petratos scored a thunderbolt of a free kick and James Donachie fumbled through an own goal before the half-time break. The game finished at 3-2 but not before Besart Berisha was sent off in an incident that he successfully appealed.
The Victory will field a depleted line-up and despite being the better overall team at the moment they will struggle to make up for all the quality that they are missing. Rojas, Berisha, Troisi and Ingham will all miss the game on international duties and away to a strong but inconsistent Roar team that gap will be too much for them to make up. Keep in mind that Oli Bozanic was recently released, with the midfielder a key to this game if he was still at the club.
Defensively the Victory will be sound with no defenders missing, but if they cannot control the ball in the midfield they will come under constant attack and it is unlikely they will hold the Roar scoreless for that whole period.
Michael Theo will be missing after his red card against Dylan McGowan on Sunday and Matt McKay is also out for 4-6 with a knee injury. The return of Thomas Broich and Luke Devere will give the Roar plenty of experience and if they play to their potential they will get a much needed win.
