A SMALL and wild pitch invader stole the show during a Swiss Super League match on Sunday night, biting a player as he attempted to capture the creature.

The animal called a marten, a manic mix between a wolverine and a ferret, invaded a match between FC Zurich and FC Thun.

It took several attempts to catch the creature, with the crowd roaring everytime the wily marten escaped his bemused pursuers.

A player from Zurich, named Loris Benito, pounced on the wild invader, before copping a nasty bite for his work, dropping the animal and so the chase continued.

Benito had to leave the field to receive treatment for the painful bite.

A goalkeeper - with gloves - finally captured the little stray, allowing the game to go on and Zurich to eventually win 4-0.
