Starc, 23, has been withdrawn from Australia's dominant one-day team and sent to India for earlier than originally planned preparation for the anticipated Test series against the star-studded Indians.
Starc demolished the Windies batting with successive five-wicket hauls at the WACA last weekend to launch the five-game series.
He was rested from Friday's fourth one-day international against the West Indies in Sydney and won't play final match in Melbourne on Sunday.
His place in Australia's squad is taken by rapidly emerging all-rounder Nathan Coulter-Nile.
Australian team management also confirmed that veteran gloveman Brad Haddin would replace Matt Wade as wicketkeeper for Sunday's clash.
Wade is part of the group, which also includes all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, that heads to India on Saturday.
Batsman Adam Voges replaced vice-captain George Bailey in Friday's match and will stay with the ODI team outfit for Sunday as well as head to Brisbane for Wednesday's Twenty20 clash with the Windies.
