FORMER West Coast premiership player Daniel Chick is seeking a permanent injunction over a story published by Sports News First in January last year.

The story, which centred around fallen star and Chick's former teammate Ben Cousins' drug addiction and hospitalisation, also made mention of Chick and his lifestyle away from football.

Chick claims that he has suffered hatred, contempt and ridicule as a result of the published story and subsequent republications.

Chick is also claiming damages and aggravated damages as a result of three separate stories in which he was mentioned.

Sports News First representatives have declared they will defend any legal action brought against the online news organisation by the former West Coast and Hawthorn hard man.

Chick is reportedly set to represent himself in the case.

Chick played in the Eagles' 2006 premiership after moving to West Coast from Hawthorn, where he began his career.

Chick was fined $8,000 in 2010 after pleading guilty to attempting to import performance enhancing drugs from Thailand.
