Another setback for Morabito

LUCKLESS Fremantle midfielder Anthony Morabito has suffered a suspected knee injury in his attempt to return to AFL football.

Morabito limped from Fremantle Oval, visibly distraught, on Wednesday morning with what appeared to be a left knee injury after twisting awkwardly during a tackling contest.

Surrounded by concerned teammates, Morabito showed his frustration by punching the ground before gingerly limping toward the boundary.

Morabito was then quickly whisked away from the Dockers headquarters for scans by concerned Fremantle coach Ross Lyon.

The injury-plagued 21-year-old was driven out of the training facilities after a brief medical assessment of what looks to be his latest setback.

The high draft pick, so often likened in his playing style to Sydney great Adam Goodes, has torn the ACL in his left knee twice during his short career.

He has not played since the Dockers were eliminated from the 2010 finals.

Taken at pick four in the 2009 draft, Morabito had a stunning debut season, playing 23 games and kicking 13 goals, receiving an Rising Star nomination in Round 22.

More to come.
