Hall, 36, has already shed 6kg from the body which took him through 289 AFL games for three clubs, despite knowing the brutal full-time training schedule is yet to come.
That begins on Monday, with the target of a much anticipated professional ring debut in April or May, in Melbourne, before a significant pay-per-view audience.
“I have been in a bit of an initiation phase I guess, on Monday the real stuff starts – seven days a week, twice a day,” Hall said.
“I have had a little taste of it and it is very difficult, very hard – but there is more to come. I am not looking forward to it.”
Dropping from 103kg to 97kg, Hall has already had several suitors to be his first opponent, with former NBL player John Szigeti and Andre ‘The Giant’ Meunier, a 35 year-old butcher, putting their cases.
Hall has insisted he wants to respect of the boxing fraternity, and refuses to get involved in any gimmick bouts – hence the time he is taking in the gym.
“I am very much a novice, I need this sort of training for a long period of time,” Hall said.
“I think April or May is realistic. People don’t realise how much is involved, I have got to be fit and it is going to take some time.
“It is not going to be a gimmicky thing. We want to fight boxers, we don’t want to be a circus or a celebrity boxing circuit.
“And ... if people are driving to our show, they are not going to know what is going to happen.
“Not that I am going to walk in there and knock the bloke out in two rounds that is not what we are about.
“I am 36, I need rounds under my belt and I need quality people pushing me – I have not got long in this sport.”
The fight most touted around Hall is a potential Trans-Tasman, cross-code affair with Sonny Bill Williams, who is currently eyeing off the New Zealand heavyweight title.
Hall however says a bout with the All Black has not been discussed – and could only become reality if the ex-NRL star dedicated himself full-time to the ring.
“There is a legitimate case for that (fighting him first), but we have worked out a path we want to take and it is not that path,” Hall told SEN.
“We want to get respect from the boxing world to show people I am doing this properly, and it is not a gimmick grab for cash or to rip people off.
“That is the road we are taking. If it is a gimmick fight and I bow out after one fight I would not be able to sleep at night.
“We have not spoken about him to be honest – if Sonny Bill wants to got to full-time boxing we will certainly look at it.”
