Eade, who was dumped as the coach of the Western Bulldogs at the end of last season, joined the Magpies as a coaching director and says there has been little to no reference to the gut-wrenching end to 2011.
Eade says rookie coach Nathan Buckley has adapted to the top job very well, as the Pies kick into full pre-season swing after completing the now traditional strength and conditioning camp in Arizona.
Eade declared the players have well and truly moved on from the painful 38-point loss to Geelong in the Pies’ second grand final appearance in a row.
“They haven’t mentioned it,” Eade told radio FiveAA in Adelaide.
“Nathan mentioned it early in the pre-season as far as, ‘we’ll put it in the basket where it belongs’.
“It’s just all about moving forward.
“We haven’t dwelled on the success of 2010 or the loss of 2011 - it’s more about 2012 and what we need to do to get back up to the top again.
“Obviously it would have hurt the guys at the time, but they’ve moved on and they’re looking forward.”
Eade declared Buckley, who took over as Magpies coach from Mick Malthouse last year as part of a controversial succession plan, was creating a balance within the coaching staff.
Buckley has made his mark with the 2010 premiers, but Eade insists there wasn’t too much that needed to be changed.
“He’s balancing the act very well - to delegating for some assistant coaches to have their say and take parts of training, so he’s during that very well,” Eade said.
“He’s put the stamp on about how he wants the team to play.
“There’s not going to be a lot of change from the past years, because obviously they’ve been pretty successful.
“But there’s a few things that he’s going to tweak.”
