ANGELO Dundee, the legendary boxing trainer of Muhammad Ali, has died, his family has confirmed.

Best known for his career alliance with Ali, Dundee worked with 15 world champions, including Sugar Ray Leonard, José Nápoles, George Foreman, Jimmy Ellis, Carmen Basilio, Luis Rodriguez and Willie Pastrano.

But it was his relationship with the legendary Ali that Dundee was best remembered for.

Dundee was an almost permanent fixture in Ali's corner, missing only two of Ali's fights.

Having trained the young Cassius Clay, Dundee remained at his side until his exile from boxing - and reunited with the greatest of all time when Ali returned for his famed bouts with Joe Frazier, Floyd Patterson, George Foreman, Ken Norton and, later, Leon Spinks.

George Foreman accused Dundee of loosening the ring ropes before the 1974 'Rumble in the Jungle' - an act he always denied.

Dundee later teamed up with another boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard as he took on the boxing world - and ironically also helped Foreman before his 1991 title fight against Evander Holyfield and his 1994 title win against Michael Moorer.
