In a statement, the Indian cricket board slammed the reports that veteran number three Rahul Dravid was set to walk away from Test cricket.
The BCCI said the reports were "baseless and untrue" and the country's officials scrambled to deny there would be any retirements after India's shambolic Test series against Australia came to an end.
Reports and speculation was rife on Saturday morning that Dravid, famously known as 'The Wall', had told his teammates he was going to retire.
The 39-year-old is Test cricket's second leading runscorer, but made only 194 runs at 24.25 in the four Tests.
Indian opener Virender Sehwag echoed the sentiments of the BCCI, saying any reports of retirements were just plain wrong.
The tourists crumbled to a 298-run loss in the Fourth and final Test in Adelaide on Saturday.
India's embarrassment was complete after being bowled out for 201 on the batter-friendly Adelaide pitch, losing the series 4-nil.
After the final wicket fell on Saturday, the Indians returned to the pitch to begin training for the One Day International series, which starts next month.
