SCOTTISH Premier League club Hearts is facing sanctions after failing to pay players on time for the fourth successive month.

In a series of demands issued earlier this month, the SPL told Hearts to pay the salaries owed to the 14 players by January 17 but the the Edinburgh club failed to comply with the order.

After a board meeting on Tuesday, the league says Hearts is being charged with "failing to behave with the utmost good faith to the SPL".

Hearts could be banned from signing players after the hearing takes place at a date to be determined.
