ARSENAL are considering taking the father/son rule to a whole new level - by signing Robin Van Persie’s five-year old son Shaqueel.

Reports in the UK suggest the Arsene Wenger is considering placing the younger Van Persie on a contract into their youth coaching ranks - while also ensuring some more loyalty from his best and most important player.

The youngster already has a Facebook page dedicated to him - and he was pictured with Argentine legend Maradona this week.

“I honestly have to say that he [Shaqueel] has got a lot of talent for football,” Van Persie said this week

"I recognise a lot of stuff of myself in him. His coach is really great.

"Arsenal has invited him a couple of times to come and play there but he likes it at his club.

"He's sensitive for a good atmosphere. Just like me."

Arsenal’s interest follows Tottenham’s attempt to keep Rafael van der Vaart happy, with his six-year-old son Damian training every week with the Tottenham under-sixes.

European giants will all be circling the Dutch international, who has scored 18 goals this season, but has also put off new contract talks until the summer.
